What an incredible day. Al & I traveled up the coast in search for waves. It was HUGE in front of the Costa Rica Surf & SUP headquarters and we were hungry for some epic waves. Sometimes when it gets tooo big, the sand banks can’t handle the massive waves (we’re talking overhead to double overhead). We piled into our trusty Suzuki Samuri surf mobile. We had everything we needed…. boards, wax, homemade peanut butter & jam sandwiches in a baggie, lots of water, sunscreen, and our dog Mango. The 40 minute trip thru the jungle was gorgeous and so very green. When we arrived at our destination, several friends were already there. It was such a pleasure to paddle out to the lineup and see friendly faces! This was the first time I had a Go Pro camera attached to the nose of my board and I was eager to get some video of me surfing. My first couple of waves were okay and I think that I was getting into the groove of things. By my 3rd wave, I was in my element with a solid take off, followed by screamin’ down the line, cutbacks to the energy pocket of the wave, and fun top & bottom turns. Yes! It felt so good to have wheels and be able to travel to this amazing location while everyone else was sitting on our home beach trying to decide if the hectic paddleout was worth the waves.
