SUP Surfing in Costa Rica ~
Recently, a couple from Miami contacted us about surfing on paddleboards. He had been SUP surfing for about 2 years and his wife for a year. He had heard about a surf spot called La Lora Amarilla, which is right out front of our surf shack. I told him I knew of some even sweeter spots that were less crowded….
We’d feel much better unleashing a paddleboarder that we don’t know (yet) onto an uncrowded break than at La Lora. Let us take you out to a sweet offshore reef where you can have the wave all to yourself! Or, we can head south and go to several beautiful point breaks. Both lefts and about 15-20 minutes drive from our surf camp. We’ve got a great 4×4 surfmobile with racks on top that’s awesome for adventuring. Some of the best SUP waves are in more secret spots anyways.
La Lora’s great for advanced SUP surfers, but is a bit intense to jump right into when you first get here. It’s crowded at the moment and the beach break can be brutal on a big swell.
